The restaurant at Strandhotel Wietjes with its large dining hall is not only open to our house guests. Enjoy the tasty dishes from our excellent kitchen and look forward to the special game and fish dishes.

Our restaurant is ideal both for our resident guests and for á la carte guests. Furnished with warm, red-hued fabrics, an elegant floor made of Siberian larch wood, and an artistic mural in sunny colours by Peter Büttner’s experts, the guest experiences an attractive backdrop for an evening meal or breakfast in the Strandhotel Wietjes.





Fish, Dry-aged Beef & more


The kitchen team comprises four ladies and has been led for more than twenty years by Helga König. They are especially committed when it comes to offering our guests the best products from our region. Themselves East Friesians, they place great value on healthy, naturally produced food from the surrounding area. For this reason, we have joined the “Culinary East Friesland” initiative, the brainchild of Oldenburg University, with the objective of bringing together producers and consumers of regional products. Therefore, all of our eggs, beef and fine poultry come from the free-range farm Diekenshoff, while our pork and sausage products come from the State Butcher Ulferts in Münkeboe.

We are particularly happy to be able to offer salt-marsh veal, exclusively provided by Jens Behrends, whose animals graze in the salt meadows in front of the dyke. Our lamb dishes are especially popular. Naturally, in a restaurant that is situated right beside the sea, fish is top priority. Fresh plaice, matjes (young herring), sole and crab, as well as mussels in season, are the typical products for the lover of fish.

Even though everything is available these days, it still remains the case that meals made from products that are just in season are particularly delicious. We accompany the harvest times throughout the year with special menus. This begins with asparagus, followed by the matjes and strawberry season, continues with self-caught venison, and soon come the mushrooms. Then in autumn, wild game dishes and mussels have their time.

This means that our kitchen not only provides a standard menu, but also special offers, which make a visit worthwhile. Our restaurant has an informal atmosphere, typical of Baltrum. We are not interested in providing five-star cuisine, but rather good food at good prices for everyone. Why not drop by, when you next visit Baltrum.
